Waldorf Baseball Sweep Saints with Strong Pitching Performances

FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Waldorf baseball team was back in action for a home conference weekend series against Presentation. This series was scheduled to be an away weekend, but due to unready field conditions was moved to Forest City. The Warriors won both, 10-0 and 15-0.

Thomas Capllonch (SR/Kailua, HI) started off the 1st inning with an RBI single getting Damien Sanchez (JR/Riverside, CA) to score the first  run. Capllonch then got a three-run homer in the 2nd inning to extend the lead 4-0.

In the 4th inning, Sanchez hit a homerun with Davis Churchman (SR/Ankeny, IA) scoring. Churchman scored the seventh run in the 6th inning on a passed ball.

The Warriors ended the game in the 8th inning by getting to 10 runs and keeping Presentation from scoring. Sanchez started the inning with a double and Juan Jorge (JR/Bronx, NY) scoring. Churchman scored from a line out by Capllonch and Sanchez got to home plate from an RBI single from Anthony Hibl (JR/Sharon, WI).

Ryan Meyer pitched seven innings with seven strikeouts and one walk. Ryuya Kato closed the game in the 8th inning with two strikeouts and zero walks.

The Warriors finished with 13 hits and zero errors. Sanchez saw four at bats with three hits, four runs, and three RBIs and Capllonch had five at bats with three hits and five RBIs.

In game two, the Warriors kept them momentum to start the game with a 3-0 lead after the 2nd inning. Hibl got an RBI single with Atticus Smith (SO/Kent, WA) scoring the first run. Jorge and Churchman got back-to-back sacrifice fly out RBIs with Ryan Webster (SO/Las Vegas, NV) and Hibl scoring.

The Warriors doubled their score in the 3rd inning. Webster reached first base on a Saint error and advanced to third, with two RBIs, Nathan Westfield (SO/Indian Harbor Beach, FL) and Zach Meyer (JR/Gilbert, AZ) scored. Matthew Ferreira then got an RBI double getting Webster to score the 6th run.

In the 4th inning, Sanchez and Meyer scored to extend the lead 8-0. Hibl got a two-run RBI triple with Webster and Westfield scoring.

AJ Toulouse (FR/Marshall, MN) started the 6th inning with an RBI double with Luis Rivera (JR/Panama City, Panama) getting across home plate. Reno Morehouse (FR/Hubbard, TX) then got a two-run RBI single allowing Toulouse and Smith to score.

In the 7th inning, smith closed the game with a two-run RBI single, Sanchez and Churchman scored.

Marc Luna (SR/Alvin, TX) pitched all seven innings and finished with an impressive 14 strikeouts, zero walks, and only two hits.

The Warriors return to the field tomorrow for another doubleheader against the Saints in Forest City starting at 12 p.m.
