Waldorf Baseball Beat Presentation 20-5 and 7-4

FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Waldorf baseball team closed out their conference series against Presentation with a sweep winning 20-5 and 7-4.

Thomas Capllonch (SR/Kailua, HI) started the first game with an RBI single getting Davis Churchman (SR/Ankeny, IA) to score the first run. The Saints tied the game in the bottom of the inning and then took the lead, 1-4, after the 2ndinning.

Robert Gurney (FR/Campbell River, BC) got an RBI single allowing Capllonch to score in the 3rd inning. 

The Warriors had a big 4th inning by scoring nine runs to make the score 11-4. In the 5th inning, the Warriors added five more runs.

The Saints scored their final run in the bottom of the 5th inning.

In the 6th inning, the Warriors extended their lead 19-5 and Damien Sanchez (JR/Riverside, CA) ended the game in the 7th inning with a homerun. 

Zach Meyer (FR/Gilbert, AZ) pitched five innings for the Warriors with four strikeouts and Gabriel Jaramillo (JR/La Puenta, CA) finished the game with one strikeout. Matthew Ferreira (SR/Spring Creek, NV) had a team high of four RBIs and Capllonch saw three at bats with two hits and three runs.

To start game two, Capllonch opened with a homerun. 

The Saints tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd

Gurney got an RBI single with Ryan Webster (SO/Las Vegas, NV) scoring in the 4th inning. Atticus Smith (SO/Kent, WA) also got an RBI single in the 6th inning to extend the lead 3-1 with Webster getting across home plate.

In the bottom of the 6th, the Saints tied the game 3-3.

Sanchez got a two-run RBI single with Churchman and Anthony Hibl (JR/Sharon, WI) scoring. Capllonch followed with a two-run homerun to secure the win with Sanchez getting to home plate.

The Saints scored a run in the 7th, but the Warrior defense and pitching ended the game with a win 7-4.

Skyler Yarborough (JR/The Colony, TX) started off pitching for the Warriors and finished with seven strikeouts and two walks. Gunnar Huffman (FR/Robinson, TX) secured the win with one strikeout and zero walks. Trevor Brace (JR/Murrieta, CA) pitched the final inning with two strikeouts and one walk.

The Warriors are now 4-4 in NSAA conference play.
