Baseball Splits Against Viterbo

LaCROSSE, WI – The Waldorf baseball team is on the road for their final weekend series against Viterbo before the conference tournament. The Warriors beat the V-Hawks in the first game, 3-2 and dropped the second 4-7.

In the first game, the Warriors were first to score which came in the 6th inning. Damien Sanchez (JR/Riverside, CA) got the first run and Ryan Webster (SO/Las Vegas, NV) came up with a two run RBI single allowing Atticus Smith (SO/Kent, WA) and Thomas Capllonch (SR/Kailua, HI) to score.

The V-Hawks scored off an RBI single in the 7th and an RBI double in the 8th. The Waldorf pitching and defense stopped Viterbo from tying the game. The Warriors won 3-2.

Ryan Meyer (JR/Gilbert, AZ) pitched eight innings with four strikeouts and only one walk. Trevor Brace (JR/Murrieta, CA) earned the save with no hits. 

Viterbo started the second game with a two run RBI double in the bottom of the 2nd for an early lead.

In the top of the 3rd, Sanchez got an RBI single getting Juan Jorge (JR/Bronx, NY) to score the first run for the Warriors. 

The V-Hawks then came up with a big 3rd inning by scoring four straight runs.

Anthony Hibl (JR/Sharon, WI) got an RBI on a fielder's choice and Smith scored, unearned in the 4th. Davis Churchman (SR/Ankeny, IA) added another run from a sacrifice fly out from Capllonch. Zach Meyer (JR/Gilbert, AZ) continued the momentum with an RBI double getting Sanchez to score in the 5th inning.

The V-Hawks scored the final run in the bottom of the 5th and won 4-7.

Jamie Olson (SO/Menifee, CA) started on the mound and pitched five innings. Olson finished with six strikeouts and two walks.

The Warriors will play another doubleheader against the V-Hawks tomorrow, starting at 1 p.m.
