FOREST CITY, Iowa - Bellevue came into Saturday's doubleheader a perfect 10-0 in NSAA action this season. A strong pitching effort from Waldorf's Zach Meyer helped put a loss on Bellevue's conference schedule.
The Bruins took the first two games of the four-game series with a doubleheader sweep on Friday. Amaral would drive him in with a single to center. Wytulka followed with a single of his own. A Bellevue throwing error allowed Amaral to score to give Waldorf a 3-0 lead. Zach Meyer was dominant on the mound. He struck out two batters in the fourth to keep Bellevue scoreless. The Bruins did break through with two runs in the fifth. In the sixth, with the tying run on third base with one out, Meyer struck out the last two Bruins to keep Waldorf up 3-2. Reno Morehouse came on in the seventh for the save opportunity. He struck out the first two batters he faced. Two singles followed, but Morehouse would get a ground out to end the game and preserve the win. Meyer struck out nine in getting his fourth win of the season.
