Men's Indoor Track Showcases Talent at Moco Mercer Open

DUBUQUE, IA- The Waldorf men's indoor track and field team continued their season in the Moco Mercer Open at the Dubuque-Chlapaty Rec Center this past weekend. The Warriors continued their hot start with an individual national qualifier and a couple top 10 finishes.

"I'm extremely proud of how our men competed this weekend. It's always an exciting day when we get a National Qualifier." -Head Coach Janna Langrell

Wade Baker (SR/Chewelah, WA) qualified for nationals with his 2nd place finish in weight throwing with the distance of 17.48m. Baker finished in 8th place in Men's Shot Put with the distance of 14.09m.

"Wade qualifying for nationals in the weight throw for the third time is a testament to his hard work and dedication to his events." – Coach Langrell

Jorge Olivo-Cabrera (SR/Andover, MN) took 1st the Men's 60 Hurdles with a time of 8.64. Olivo-Cabrera also finished in 16th place in the Men's 300.

Robert Beal (FR/Rio Rancho, NM) placed 15th in the Men's 300 with a time of 38.01.

"I think Rob ran an extremely well executed 300." -Coach Langrell

Marquis Simpson (FR/Adelanto, GA) placed 6th at the meet. Simpson finished in 6th with a 1.84m jump in high jump. Following his high jump, Simpson finished in 12th place with a 5.68m jump in the long jump.

Xzayvier Horton (SO/Atlanta, GA) had a 9th place finish in the Men's 300 with a time of 37.35.

"Overall, this was a great showcase of our current fitness, and we are only going to continue to build from here." -Coach Langrell

The Warriors will continue action at Mankato State University January 26th and 27th.
