Warriors Open Season with Home Exhibition Against St. Thomas
FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf women's soccer team started their 2023 season with a home exhibition contest against NCAA Division I University of St. Thomas. The Warriors lost 4-0.
The Tommies scored two goals in the first half, one at the 21st minute and the next at the 23rd minute mark. Their third goal was unassisted at the 51st minute.
The Warriors kept the Tommies at three goals for the majority of the second half, until the last minute of the game when St. Thomas scored their final goal.
Maria Gonzalez (SR/Turlock, CA) and Lucia Blazuez (FR/Madrid, Spain) split time in goal with seven and six saves, respectfully.
First year Head Coach Thomas Goodman had this to say about the game, "I am so proud of the ladies' performance verse a team with more time together and 20 more subs. The ladies gave their all and we will use this as a building block going forward. I have a feeling we will be sneaky good this season."
The Warriors will have their first game of the season against Mount Mercy on Saturday, August 26th at 5pm.
