Volleyball falls at Doane

CRETE, Neb. - The Waldorf volleyball team traveled west to Nebraska for a GPAC contest at Doane. The two teams split the first two sets, but Doane won sets three and four to take the match in four sets (25-22, 14-25, 25-23, 25-19).

After dropping the first set, Waldorf trailed in the second set early, 6-4. They used the stellar serving of Kenzie Kidd to rattle off eight straight points to take a 12-6 lead. Kidd delivered two aces during the run. Later, a Waldorf five-point spurt gave them an 18-9 lead. The run was highlighted by three straight kills from Kaylin Koch. They would go on to take the set 25-14 and even the match at a set a piece.

Waldorf staved off three set points in the third set before ultimately falling 25-23. Doane jumped out to a big lead in the fourth set. Waldorf was able to pull within three late, but Doane pulled away for the 25-19 win to take the match.

Waldorf (9-9, 3-6 in GPAC) stays in Nebraska for a match Saturday at Hastings.
