Blue Hawks down Waldorf for big road victory

Forest City, Iowa – Dickinson State got 73 of their 80 points from their starting lineup, including 21 points and 8 rebounds from Samantha Oase, to take down Waldorf University, 80-71, on the road Friday.

After falling behind early, DSU rallied to take the lead with 3:46 left in the first quarter on a pair of free throws from Katherine Fox to take their first lead of the day. Early in the second quarter, Waldorf used a 7-0 run to take a 19-17 advantage, but the Blue Hawks answered with a 7-0 run of their own to regain the lead. DSU never trailed again from that point on, controlling the game the rest of the way and keeping their lead around the 7-10 point mark for most of the contest.

Fox had 15 points and 4 rebounds, while Heather LaBree finished with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists for DSU. Kayden Steele was the fourth Blue Hawk in double figures, finishing with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Tinley Pierson finished with nine points, narrowly missing out on the entire starting lineup scoring over ten points.
