Women's Soccer Blanks Waldorf in Road Win

Women's Soccer jumped out early in Forest City, Iowa, on Wednesday evening and posted a 4-0 victory over Waldorf. The win moved the Tigers to 2-0 in GPAC play, both coming on the road.

In the 18' of play, Denise Gomez lined up a free kick and sent a shot that deflected off the bottom of the crossbar and into the goal for an early 1-0 lead. The Tigers maintained the lead into halftime.

Early into the second half, Doane was back on the board in the 58' as Lexi Torok led a 3-on-2 attack. She sent in a centering pass that drew a Warrior defender to a Tiger teammate in the center of the box but the ball crossed through untouched to Celeste Galvan, who fired a shot in for the second goal of the game.

Doane extended their lead in the 62' as Rio Ruotsala battled two Warriors and the goalkeeper for a loose ball from two yards out, chipping it in for a 3-0 lead. In the 74', Doane added their final goal as Savannah Franzoy sent a corner kick into the box that was redirected by Emma Jenkins for the team's fourth goal.

The Tigers finished with a 15-10 shots advantage, including 11-5 in shots on-goal. Virginia Johnson recorded four saves in posting a clean sheet for the shutout win.

Next up is the team's furthest trip in conference play as they head to Jamestown, N.D., to take on the Jimmies on September 23. Game time is set for 7 PM.
