V-Hawks Comeback Inning Falls Short

FOREST CITY, Iowa. – The Viterbo University baseball fell in a single non-conference game at Waldorf University 10-9, Tuesday afternoon. The V-Hawks fall to 13-10  (CCAC 8-4).

The V-Hawks were down after a strong first and sixth innings by the Warriors before a rally in the top of the ninth with five runs, though one run short the Warriors would take the win.

Brett Stuessel started on the mound for three innings, allowing five runs in six hits, and striking out three batters. Jomar Guzman would come in relief for two innings, striking out a single batter and allowing a run. The final three innings would be pitched by Bryant Koenig, Dominic LeBlanc, and Anthony Reza each striking out a batter, and Koenig letting up four runs.

At the plate Derick Cossio would lead with a double and two RBIs, Cody Wells with a double and an RBI, Ryder Mortensen with two RBIs and Spencer Hans and Carson Reinhardt with an RBI each.

The V-Hawks return to action Thursday, March 27 at home against St. Ambrose.
