Men's Soccer had two battles to overcome on Wednesday evening in Forest City, Iowa. The match started 30 minutes late due to a lightning delay. After playing the first half against Waldorf without issue, another delay began and lasted 50 minutes. The teams were able to get the second half in without any further issues with the Warriors picking up a 2-1 win.
A turnover by the Tigers deep in their own territory led to the first goal of the game, an unassisted shot by Nickolas Linares in the 22' of play. Just before the first half closed, Doane was set up for an indirect kick. Ruben Acosta touched the ball forward a few inches and Guillem Colom came through with a low line-drive kick that found the back of the goal to tie the match in the 43' of the game.
In the second half, Waldorf picked up the winning goal in the 80' as Lucas Berte sent a ball through to Maku Ene, who won a one-on-one battle for the goal. Doane would out-shoot the Warriors in the game, 12-10.
Doane will travel to Jamestown, N.D., to take on the Jimmies on Saturday, September 23, at 5 PM.
