Tucson, Ariz. – Dakota Wesleyan Baseball is still searching for their first win on their Tucson spring break trip after dropping games to Waldorf and Gustavus. The Tigers fell in game on 9-8 in walk off fashion, as DWU held a 8-5 lead heading to the final frame. The Warriors got the first four men to reach safely and then the Tiger staff got an out but then was followed by three straight singles completing their comeback win. Dexter Payne got the start on the mound and went six innings of five run no decision ball. He was relieved by Logan Davis who went two innings giving up as many followed by Brady Christoffels who came in in the ninth and ultimately took the loss with the two earned runs given up. DWU found their stroke on offense collecting 10 hits in the game and was led by Oscar Pravecek who slugged a no doubter two-run shot, his second of the season. Seth Christiansen also went deep for his lone hit on the day. Lane Darrow and Landon Ruesink both collected multi hits game and Darrow and Carter Olek joined Pravecek with two runs batted in.
Game two against DIII Gustavus Adolphus College out of Minnesota opened with the Tigers claiming a 1-0 lead with Caleb Meyers getting an about as easy as it can get RBI with the bases loaded hit by pitch. That Tiger lead didn't last long though as the Gusties plated three in the second and never looked back or surrendered that lead for the remainder of the game. Gustavus went on to score at least one run in every inning, besides the seventh, on their way to a 14-4 win in eight innings. Jacob Glovich started for DWU and took the loss with five innings of eight run ball (only three earned). Dakota Wesleyan committed four errors in the field while only recording five hits in the game. Darrow was responsible for two of those five hits while Caleb Meyers went 1 for 3 with a triple, RBI, and run scored.
