Warriors Defeated by Norse in Non-Conference Game
DECORAH, IA – The Waldorf men's basketball team was back in action for their final road game before the New Year against the NCAA Division III Luther College Norse. The Warriors suffered an 85-51 defeat.
1st Half: Khalil Grayson (JR/Milwaukee, WI) tied the game with a quick layup and Justin Wiggins (JR/West Palm Beach, FL) made a go-ahead three-pointer. Ugo Ejiofor (JR/Dallas, TX) and Joshua Woods (SR/Fresno, CA) scored back-to-back layups for a 9-7 lead. After a Norse three, Gene Noble (JR/Roy, UT) responded with a Warrior three-pointer to take the lead.
The Norse went on an 11-0 run for a 25-14 lead with 7:28 left in the first half. The Warriors then went on an 8-0 run which consisted of two straight threes from Noah Miller (FR/Forest City, IA). At the end of the half, the Norse were up 31-26.
2nd Half: Wiggins and Miller both made three-pointers to start the half. With 12 minutes remaining, the Norse were up 54-35. The Norse extended their lead with an eight-point run. Khyle Washington (SR/Atlanta, GA) made two layups and Autavian Gibson (SO/Tallahassee, FL) scored six points to close out the game. The Warriors fell 85-51.
Miller finished with a team-high of 11 points, going 3-3 from three-point, and 4 rebounds. Wiggins had 9 points, Washington added 6 points and 6 rebounds, and Grayson tallied 6 points and 5 rebounds.
Next up, the men's basketball team will be back on the road after the New Year for a non-conference game against Martin Luther College on Wednesday, January 3rd. Tip-off is at 7 pm.
