Warriors lose tough five-setter at Dordt
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - The Waldorf volleyball team traveled to Sioux Center to face Dordt for a GPAC matchup Saturday. Waldorf led two sets to one, but Dordt rallied to take the match in five sets (22-25, 25-22, 25-27, 25-18, 15-11).
Waldorf jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the opening set. Back-to-back kills from Kenzie Kidd was part of a 5-0 run. Dordt fought back to tie the set at 13. It was still tied at 22 before Waldorf scored the final three points of the set to take an early match lead. The roles were reversed in the second set. Again tied at 22, Dordt scored the set's final three points to even the match.
Waldorf roared out to a 6-0 lead in the third set. Kaylin Koch had a pair of kills in the early run. Dordt rebounded to take a 13-12 lead. Later, down 25-24, a Koch kill knotted the set at 25. Back-to-back kills from Anna Longhenry gave Waldorf a 27-25 set win and two sets to one lead. Dordt led all the way in set four to even the match at two sets a piece. In the fifth set, Waldorf scored four straight to even the set at 11. Dordt scored the final four points to take the set and the match.
Koch and Longhenry led Waldorf with 11 kills. Rachel Watson led with 19 assists while Reinya Balderson added 18. Kaylee Kidd had 25 digs.
Waldorf (10-12, 4-9 in GPAC) returns home to face No. 1 and undefeated Northwestern Wednesday.
