Warriors collect first win of season
CANTON, Mo. - The Waldorf volleyball team concluded its season-opening trip to Missouri with a game at Culver-Stockton Saturday. The Warriors topped the Wildcats in four sets to collect their first win of the season.
Waldorf used an 11-point spurt to take an early advantage in the first set. Kaylee Kidd added three service aces in the run that helped give Waldorf a 13-3 lead. The Warriors would go to win the first set, 25-19. The Warriors jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second set. They would extend their lead throughout the second stanza. An Alicia Brandt kill ended the set in favor of Waldorf, 25-15. Culver-Stockton extended the match with a 25-23 win in the third set. The fourth set was another tight affair. Tied at 23, a Kenzie Kidd kill gave Waldorf an edge and an error from the Wildcats gave Waldorf a 25-23 fourth set win and a 3 sets to 1 match victory.
Kenzie Kidd, Kaylin Koch, and Brandt led a balanced Waldorf attack with nine kills each. Reinya Balderson led with 23 assists. Kenzie Kidd had 10 digs. Emily Soukup had six blocks.
Waldorf (1-2) next plays August 24 at the Peru State Triangular against Peru State and Bethany (KS).
