Philosophy
Mission Statement
Under the direction of Cutting Edge Fitness owner Jason Laube, the strength and conditioning services provided by Laube and his staff support both the mission of Waldorf University athletics and academics. Additionally, the mission of the strength and conditioning program is to provide committed service to all Waldorf student-athletes helping them to reach peak potential while decreasing the risk of injury, Waldorf Strength and Conditioning also seeks to serve as a leader, innovator and educator in the world of strength and conditioning.
Primary Objectives
The Strength and Conditioning program serves to meet the following five objectives.
Objective No 1: Positively affect the lives of each student-athlete through character building, leadership opportunities and goal setting.
Objective No 2: Instill a lifelong habit of proper lifting mechanics, safe and sensible exercise selection, and goal setting in each and every athlete through in-depth one-on-one and group skills training.
Objective No 3: Dramatically decrease the occurrence of and susceptibility to injury in all athletes through the use of individualized joint specific, compound static and dynamic testing and assessment preceding the implementation of corrective exercises and sport specific training.
Objective No 4: Significantly enhance athletic performance as it relates to each athlete's unique characteristics, their position, and sport though the comparison of a comprehensive analysis of the requirements of the position/sport and an assessment of the athlete.
Objective No 5: Provide guidance and education to those seeking a profession in strength and conditioning or a related field, and to those already serving in these professions.
ABOUT JASON LAUBE
Jason Laube joined the Warrior Athletic staff as director of strength and conditioning at Waldorf University in the fall 2014. Laube and his staff at Cutting Edge Fitness provide strength and conditioning services for the Waldorf's athletics department.
Laube received his undergraduate degree in health and human performance with a minor in business from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. At UW-River Falls, he served as student-interim strength and conditioning coach for all 19 varsity sports for three years. Laube also spent two years as an assistant outside linebacker/strong safety coach.
While earning his undergraduate degree, Laube worked with the National Football League's Kansas City Chiefs for two summers and later accepted a position with NFL Europe's Amsterdam Admirals following graduation (the Admirals won the World Bowl that same year in 2005).
Following his stint in Europe, Laube obtained a master's of education degree in exercise physiology and sports nutrition from the University of Minnesota. While at Minnesota, he served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Golden Gophers' football team for two years. Laube was part of a strength and conditioning program that sent 11 players to the NFL.
After earning his master's degree, Laube accepted a position as the assistant director of Velocity Sports Performance in Missouri City, Texas. In the position, he was in charge of running sports performance camps and training athletes – from high school to the professional ranks. Laube also worked with NFL players, preparing them for the supplemental NFL draft in the summer.
Laube has worked with some of the best athletes in the United States and abroad for the past 11 years from the NFL (Kansas City Chiefs); NFL Europe (Amsterdam Admirals); Minnesota Twins (Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau and Johan Santana); University of Minnesota Golden Gophers (Heisman Trophy candidate, most outstanding lineman in the country – Outland Trophy and Rimington Trophy, most outstanding tight end in the country – John Mackey Award). At Velocity Sports Performance, he worked with Tracy McGrady of the Houston Rockets; two Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) players from the Houston Comets; Olympic athletes, NFL players and numerous conference champions at UW-River Falls.
Laube and his wife, Heidi, reside in Clear Lake with their two sons, Jackson and Ty. Heidi is employed as Waldorf's head athletic trainer.
