MASON CITY, Iowa - The Waldorf men's and women's cross country teams started their 2024 seasons Friday at the Trent Smith Invitational hosted by North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City.

The men had four runners competing. Isaiah Cote was the Warriors top male runner. He had a time of 28:30.10 over the 8-kilometer course. Breyden Christensen was right behind Cote with a time of 28:39.07. Kalen Godel (30:02.68) and Brunelson Dominique (36:29.00) completed Waldorf's field.

On the women's side, two Waldorf runners finished in the top 10 over the 5-kilometer course. Eliza McKown had a seventh place showing with a time of 20:42.99. Marissa O'Connor was right behind in eighth place with a time of 21:02.56. Danielle Wood finished in 16th place with a time of 21:59.44. Brandi Peck rounded out Waldorf's quartet with a time of 23:22.60.

"This was definitely a great starting point, said head coach Janna Langrell. "The guys ran tough and looked solid throughout the entire race and the girls were smiling the entire time and had a lot of fun!"

Waldorf next competes Saturday, September 21 at the Grandview Invitational in Ankeny.
