Shooting sports begins season with home invite
EMMONS, Minn. / VENTURA, Iowa - The Waldorf shooting sports team kicked off the fall portion of their 2024-25 schedule this past Saturday by hosting the Waldorf Invitational.
The two-city event started in Emmons, Minn. with the clay shooting competition. Waldorf competed very well, winning the three-team competition with 382 points. Buena Vista (359) and Iowa Central (342) completed the field. Waldorf's Josh Pung tied for the lead among all male competitors with a score of 85. Teammate Fisher Nagel was third with 83. Sophie Degner led all female shooters with a score of 71. Waldorf teammates Brianna Myers (66) and Jillian Kardoes (65) were right behind.
The venue shifted to Ventura, Iowa in the afternoon for the trap shooting competition. There Waldorf placed third with 456 points. NIACC won the team competition. Degner again led all female shooters with a score of 94.
Waldorf continues their season October 5-6 at the Grandview Invitational.
