Warrior Golf Defeats Dickinson State in Ryder Cup Competition

FOREST CITY, Iowa- The Waldorf Men and Women's team competed together during the team's Ryder Cup competition theme. With the Ryder Cup dominating the news in the golf world, both teams decided to switch to this style of competition to bring some fun and individualism to the golf course.
How a Ryder Cup Works:
- Each team is made up of one female and one male from the same school and will compete against one female and one male from the other school.
- Competition is modified to match-play competition that awards points based on the result of each hole.
- Each match had a total of 18 points available (one point per hole). The team that won the hole received one point while the team who lost received zero points.
- If both teams tied on the same hole, each team received half of a point.
After the completion of Saturday's Ryder Cup, Waldorf defeated Dickinson State with a score of 67.5.
"Some outstanding competition throughout the day that gave each player an opportunity to contribute to the overall result of the competition. We don't get a chance to compete together as one team very often, so this was both a fun and competitive way to show school spirit on the golf course. Typically, we are playing gold individually during tournaments where match play makes players have a different sense of anxiety when their partner is depending on them to hit a good shot." – Mark Clouse
The Waldorf Women's Golf team will continue their fall schedule on October 15th and 16th at the Culver Stockton Invitational.
