Bio

Coach Gorwin enters his third year as throws coach for the Waldorf Warriors. In his young tenure at Waldorf, Coach Gorwin has helped the throwers reach new heights of success.

In the 2024 season, Gorwin coached Baker to a two-time NSAA indoor conference champion in the shot put and weight throw. Baker also finished 2nd in the shot put and 3rd in the weight throw at the NAIA Indoor National Championship, earning All-American honors. Baker went on to become a three-time outdoor conference champion in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw. At the NSAA Conference Championship, Baker set the conference record in Shot put earning himself the NSAA Most Valuable Male Athlete award.

In 2023, Gorwin coached Wade Baker to a 2nd place finish in the weight throw and a 3rd place finish in the shot put at the North Star Indoor Conference Championship. Wade Baker would go on to finish 9th in the weight throw at the NAIA Indoor Championship. At the 2023 North Star Outdoor Conference Championship, Baker finished 2nd place in the shot put, qualifying for the NAIA Outdoor Championships. Gorwin also helped coach Zach Morel to a 9th place finish at the multis section at the Drake Relays.

Gorwin graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2019 where he specialized in the shot put and hammer throw. He has qualified twice for the NCAA D-I championship prelims and finished at a best of 3rd place in shot put at the Big West Conference Championships in 2017. Coach Gorwin graduated with his BS in Public Health.

Born and raised in Yucca Valley, California, Gorwin currently resides in Forest City Iowa.
