Warriors Sweep Mavericks on Saturday

ALBERT LEA, MN – The Waldorf D2 hockey team returned to the rink for the second game against the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks on Saturday afternoon. After being tied in the first period and no goals in the second, the Warriors won 4-1.
The Mavericks scored in the 13th minute of the first period. Just one minute later, Zach Jimenez (Grad/Mason City, IA) tied the game, assisted by Alex Truelson (FR/Centennial, CO).
In the third period, the Warriors scored three straight goals to secure the win. Jeremiah Lebsack (JR/Duluth, MN) scored the game-winning goal unassisted.
The next goal came from Nate Zimmerman (FR/Elmhurst, IL), assisted by Ethan Boyd (FR/Woodridge, ON) and the final goal was from Boyd. Goalkeeper Zane Redfern (FR/Mason City, IA) finished the game with 41 saves.
“Started off slow today but battled back and fought through everything to earn the sweep this weekend,” Head Coach Sean Parker stated. “Zane Redfern made 41 saves to help keep usin the game early.”
The Warriors will be back on their home ice next weekend for homecoming weekend. Waldorf will host Lake Region State College (ND) for a two-game series starting on Saturday, October 7th at 6 pm.
