Eagles slip past Warriors in third period

ALBERT LEA, Minn. - The Warriors could not keep the advantage on Sunday. Leading by a pair of goals, Waldorf University saw the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse put in four goals in the final 15:27 and slipped past for a 6-4 men's hockey victory.
For the second match of the weekend, Zach Jimenez showed his scoring power with a 'hat trick' of goals with his final goal at 17:24 left in the game giving Waldorf a multiple-goal lead, 4-2. The Eagles, though, tied the contest in the ensuing seven minutes and found the net with a pair of power-play scores in the final six minutes for the 6-4 final.
With the second final of the pair, Waldorf (2-10) dropped its second close game after a 6-5 overtime final Saturday night result against UW-La Crosse. The Warriors did again outshoot the Eagles by a 53-39 margin.
Along with the Jimenez trio of goals, Jordan Radke fired home the day's second home score. Waldorf received an assist apiece from Treyson White, Tyler Roepke, Vincent Hunt, and Tony Romani.
Goalie Treson Boesch stopped 33 of 39 shots on goal over the 60 minutes.
At 6:57 into the match, Jimenez put the first goal on the scoreboard off a White pass. The Eagles answered with a power play and a second score coming at 9:41 and 4:49 for a 2-1 lead.
The second period belonged to the Warriors. Roepke passed to Radke for the tying goal, 2-2, at 10:13. On a Waldorf power play, Hunt dished to Jimenez for the second home advantage, 3-2, at 3:53 left in the second.
Jimenez struck for a third time off a Romani pass only 2:36 into the final 20 minutes for a 4-2 tally.
UW-La Crosse battled back from the two-goal margin with scores at 15:27 and 10:31, before the pair of power play goals overtook Waldorf (6:14 and 4:10) for the game-deciding margin.
Waldorf will have the rest of November off before it travels to Augustana College for a weekend series of matches on December 6-7.
