Overwatch 2:
Waldorf Fall Short to Washinton State University at St. Louis. Your warriors competed this week against Washinton State University at St. Louis (WSU@SL) Overwatch 2 Team, and after a tough challenge, Waldorf lost 0-3 in a best-of-five series. However, the team showed great resilience following the shutout and are already looking like a much stronger team. The first map was Antarctic Peninsula where the Warriors rolled out on a familiar comp but would fail to completely capture the first point of the map. The Warriors would find themselves looking for answers, and it was decided to pull out a new composition featuring Orisa, Mei, Bastion, Baptiste, and Lucio in order to help self-sustain ourselves throughout the high damage that WSU@SL was putting out. Unfortunately, this did not pan well for the Warriors as they would lose the first map. After Losing the first map, the Warriors would find themselves looking to bounce back at Blizzard World, where we switched to a more defensive composition and looked to poke the enemy from afar featuring Sigma, Hanzo, Soldier 76, Bap, Lucio. WSU@SL would also switch up their composition and would go on to capture the first 2 points of Blizzard World with little resistance. Thankfully, Waldorf's own DPS player "Latinas" would go on to switch of the poke style, to a more upfront style by picking Reaper instead of Hanzo. This gave Waldorf some breathing room, allowing WSU@SL to stop snowballing but WSU@SL adapted quickly to the change and made changes themselves and would go on to capture all 3 points. WSU@SL was quick to show their defensive capabilities by full holding the Warriors on the first point.
Going into the third map, it was clear that all of Waldorf's conventional tactics weren't going to work versus WSU@SL. So drastic changes and role swapping was done to give the warriors their best fighting chance. Support player Max would move to the tank role on Junker Queen. Tank player Tim would move to the DPS role, playing Genji. And DPS player Nolan would move to the Support role, playing Lucio. WSU@SL was clearly surprised at the drastic changes and would fall behind at the start giving up the first point to your Warriors. However, WSU@SL came to play and had answers for everything that we threw at them. After our closest battles yet in terms of deciding a map victor, it was clear WSU@SL was the better team Thursday Night. Waldorf's Overwatch 2 team has been working with their Head Coach and improvements are already apparent after your warriors are hungry to bounce back after a crushing loss. Expect your Warriors to be at their best this season in future games.
