Esports gets win over Northwestern
Waldorf Overwatch 3-2 win vs Northwestern
Warriors look to keep the momentum up when facing undefeated Northwestern College (NWC) for the Central division Semi-Finals match.
The first map number one seed NWC takes Waldorf to is Illios where the Warriors would live up to their name and swifty finish all of NWC's attempts to take control of the control points finishing the map 2-0 in Waldorf favor. The second map NWC would find their footing after taking us to Dorado. NWC come out swinging, finishing all three points but was met with resistance by all members. When it was time for Waldorf to attack, we would put up a respectable fight, capturing 2 points and going over half way for the 3rd point. Waldorf would quickly find the reasons for their shortfall and would adapt quickly for the third map of the best of six semi-final match.
With our first map choice of the series, we take NWC to New Junk City after learning a lot from the map from our match with UNI. This map would prove to be an excellent battle of skills and teamwork as the map would go down to the last point. With experience by your Warriors side, Waldorf would bring it home winning the third map 3-2 bringing the total score now to 2-1 in favor of Waldorf. NWC after a long pause, Esperança is the map chosen. Waldorf have been notoriously weak on this map so it was a good selection by NWC. Waldorf wouldn't go down without a fight however and would put up a respectable score at the end of the day, only losing out this map 0-1; making the current score 2-2 tied meaning that it will all come down to one final map.
With Waldorf's second map, King's Row is selected after a short team deliberation, a community favorite map, which is well practiced by both teams. Waldorf start on defense as they wait for NWC's hopeful final push. Every point would result in epic team fights, NWC would win some, Waldorf would win some. At the end of NWC's push, they capped all three points in overtime. This means that at the very least, Waldorf would have to at least cap all three points to keep their playoff dreams alive. Waldorf would do just that after some incredible clutch play calls and overall communication from support player "Futhark" who would lead the team to cap all three points, with 2 minutes and 16 seconds left on the clock! Under Overwatch 2 overtime rules, this means that Waldorf will now have the left over time they capped all the points with. Waldorf however, would not need all that time as DPS player "Valid" took the matter into his own hands, and just walked in alone, pressuring their tank, who was not aware of the courageous play. This space created allowed for the entirety of Waldorf to focus down the enemy tank, eliminating him first and it snowballed from there leading to a Waldorf Semi-Final victory 3-2 versus NorthWestern College.
