Esports Takes Third in Overwatch 2 GPAC Championship
SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Waldorf OW2 visited Morningside University this weekend to finish off the last week of the GPAC Esports Championship. The first match of the weekend had Waldorf going up against Northwestern College. NWC was a strong first opponent and started Waldorf off on the wrong foot. Following the match with NWC, Waldorf went up against Briar Cliff. Trying to keep their heads up going up against Briar Cliff was not enough and Waldorf started the day off 0-2. With a short break, Waldorf took a breather and talked about what is needed for the rest of the day. Game 3 was against Midland and a strong showing for our Warriors. Winning against Midland gave Waldorf strong momentum and they played against Doane next. Another strong victory had Waldorf end the day 2-2.
Day 2 will start with a rematch against NWC. After a good night's rest and some hearty breakfast, Waldorf was ready to take down Northwestern. Our Warriors put up a good fight, but sadly it was not enough to stop NWC. The third-place match was against Midland and Waldorf knew they had to show what they were capable of. Winning against Midland put Waldorf into 3rd place for the tournament, not enough to take home a trophy or medal, but still a great showing by the team at the first-ever GPAC Esports Championship for Overwatch.
