STORM LAKE, IA - The Warriors traveled south to Storm Lake, Iowa to compete in the Dennis Young Indoor Classic this past weekend. The men were able to capture 16 personal records, three top 10 placements within Waldorf history, and one school record on the trip. On the women's side, the Warriors claimed 7 personal records, two top 10 placements, and one school record.
For the women, Marissa O'Connor posted a personal record in the 800 meters with a time of 2.32.38 placing 7th and 3rd All-Time. Freshman Erica Palisoc posted two personal bests this weekend, in both the 60 meters and the 200 meters. For the 60 she posted a 8.47 time in the prelims and a 8.33 time in the finals placing 3rd. In the 200 meters, she ran a 28.76 beating her old time of 0.35 seconds and placing 8th. Another freshman who shined this weekend was Alexa Torres. She claimed two personal bests also both in the 60 meters and 200 meters. In the 60 she ran an 8.49 in the prelims and a 8.34 in the finals claiming 4th place and 10th place All-Time. In the 200 she ran a time of 28.67 and placed 7th.
On the field side of things Eve Seedorff claimed a personal best in shot put of 8.85 meters claiming 10th place. Justice Battle came in 5th place in shot put with a throw of 10.33 meters.
Eliza McKown came through again with another personal best and claimed another school record in the 400 meters. She posted a record breaking time of 59.67 beating her prior 400 time by 0.42 seconds.
For the men, sophomore Robert Beal posted a personal record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.45 placing 5th at the meet and 7th All-Time at Waldorf. Caden Unruh, Michael Williams, and Sunel Fernandez also posted PRs in the 200 meters with times of 28.58, 25.36, and 23.85 respectively. Isaiah Cote, Blayson Dolney, and Jeaceajay Jappah all posted personal bests in the 400 meters, with times of 57.48, 55.85, and 53.21 respectively. These times put Jappah in 5th place at the meet, and 10th All-Time, Dolney in 7th, and Cote in 10th place at the DYIC. Dolney also reached new heights in his other two events: the 60 meters and 200 meters with personal records of 8.00 and 25.50 respectively. Brunelson Dominique, Andreaz Ramos, Williams, and Unruh also posted personal records in the 60 meters with times of 7.43, 7.48, 7.68, and 8.19 respectively.
On the field side of things, sophomore Jayden Lawrence threw a personal best of 10.56m in the shot put, putting him in 11th place. Right behind him, James Robey threw a personal best of 10.45m. Marquis Simpson jumped a personal record of 6.19 meters in long jump. This jump secured him 5th place and 9th All-Time at Waldorf.
The highlight to the men's performance was their school record beating 4x200 meters relay team. Members Beal, Robay Birri, Fernandez, and Dominique finished with a time of 1.35.47.
