BROOKINGS, SD - The Warriors traveled to Brookings, South Dakota this past weekend to compete in the SDSU NAIA/D2 Open. The men's team recorded 12 personal records, and two placements within the top 10. The women's team had a great weekend recording 6 personal records, 3 top 10 placements, and beat 2 school records.
On the women's side of things, field events and distance running shined. Freshman Faith Haughwout set a new personal record in shot put with a throw of 10.95m. This throw set Haughwout at 3rd all time at Waldorf. Junior Emma Logeman set a new personal best in the weight throw with a throw of 10.37. This new record put Logeman on the leaderboard at 7th all time.
Senior Danielle Wood set a new personal record in the 5k with a time of 20.16.33. This time puts Wood on the leaderboard at 2nd of all-time. Freshman Erica Palisoc set a new personal best in the 200m with a time of 28.25.
The women set two new school records at this meet. Junior Eliza McKown has now set three in the last three weeks, the most recent being in the 600m with a time of 1.36.11. This time also put McKown at the top of the podium for this meet. The second school record comes from junior Brandi Peck in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 51.26. This time placed Peck 5th at the meet.
For the men, three of those PRs came in the 60 meter dash. Blayson Dolney ran a 7.83, Sunel Fernandez ran a 7.33, and Michael Williams ran a 7.56. Dolney, Fernandez, and Williams all PR'd in other events as well. Dolney beat his prior 600m time with a time of 1.30.20. Fernandez beat his 400m with a time of 53.67. Lastly, Williams beat his last 400m time with a time of 59.04. Junior Brunelson Dominique beat his previous 200 meter time with a new time of 23.59. He also hit a new personal record in the 600m with a time of 1.34.45.
Freshman Isaiah Cote set a new personal record in the 1000m with a time of 2.50.07. This time put him in 5th place all-time at Waldorf. Another top 10 placement was made by junior Jeaceajay Jappah in the 300 meter hurdles. With a time of 41.73 he was able to take 2nd place all-time, and 10th place at the meet. Jappah also set new heights in shot put with a personal record of 9.02
The Warriors are back in action next weekend in Mankato, Minnesota at the Ted Nelson Classic.
