GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eliza McKown competed in the 800m run at the 45th Annual Women's Indoor Track and Field National Championship in Gainesville, Fla. on Friday, February 28. She headed into her event seeded 7th with a time of 2:16.16. In the prelims, she finished with a time of 2:15.81, setting a new personal record and school record and placing 9th in the country. In the 800m run, the top two runners in each heat plus the next two best times continue to the finals. McKown was just 0.23 seconds shy of continuing to the finals.
"I am extremely proud of how Eliza represented herself, her team, and the University," Coach Janna Langrell said. "She has had an incredible season and worked so hard to get to this point. She executed the race well and left it all out there on the track. She was able to walk away with yet another school record."
McKown will return to the track with the outdoor track team in their first competition of the season on Saturday, March 22 at the Viking Relays hosted by Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa.
