Waldorf men's golf team begins season at Mount Mercy

MARION, Iowa - The Waldorf men's and women's golf teams began their 2024-25 seasons this past weekend at the Mustang Fall Championships hosted by Mount Mercy University. The men's team finished with a sixth place showing while the women finished eighth.
Mount Mercy easily won the men's title shooting a 2-round total of 7-under par. Kirkwood and Mount Mercy (B) placed second and third, respectively. St. Ambrose and Wartburg also finished ahead of Waldorf. The Warriors two-day team total was 44-over par. Braxton Tremain was Waldorf's top finisher shooting 8-over par for 24th place. Tyler Clouse was a shot behind at 9-over for 28th place. Thomas Houdayer came in 32nd place with a 12-over par. Carlos Filipczak (+15) and Logen Hoshauer (+23) rounded out Waldorf's field. Keegan Bronson led Waldorf's B team by shooting 16-over par, good for 42nd place.
On the women's side, Park (Mo.) won the team competition, 13 shots ahead of Doane. Kansas Wesleyan and Upper Iowa finished third and fourth, respectively. Isabella Heintzelman had a top 10 finish for the Warriors shooting 19-over par, good for eighth place. Amanda Karvala had a top 20 finish with an 18th place showing at +28. Ashley Groesbeck (+48), Madison Carver (+67), and Shelby Effle (+78) rounded out the field for Waldorf.
The Waldorf golf teams next compete September 14-15 at the Monmouth Invitational in Illinois.
