Warriors Fall to No. 24 Fighting Saints

Warriors Fall to No. 24 Fighting Saints

JOLIET, IL – The Waldorf football team traveled for a non-conference game against (24)St. Francis (Ill.) on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors faced a strong competitor in the Fighting Saints and fell 7-63.

"We had a tough day against a really solid opponent. Sometimes there are moments during a season where you see what your team is made of," Interim Head Coach Tyler Chapa said. "This is one of those moments. I am eager to see how this group will respond. I am optimistic that we will learn from it, get better, and move on to Dakota State."

The Fighting Saints took control from the start of the game by scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter and three more in the second.

In the third quarter, the Warriors were able to keep the Fighting Saints by just scoring one touchdown.

St. Francis added another touchdown to open the fourth quarter.

With 13 minutes remaining in the game, Jordan Cooper (SR/New Caney, TX) connected with Malik Adams (SR/Cedar Rapids, IA) for a 69-yard pass to give the Warriors their only touchdown of the game.

The Fighting Saints scored again to win 63-7.

The Warriors return to Bolstorff Field to open NSAA conference play against Dakota State on Saturday, September 9that 4 pm for Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day.
