Warriors Drop to Comets on Senior Day

FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf football team had their second meeting with the Mayville State Comets for Senior Day on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors honored 11 seniors before the start of the game. In a low scoring game, the Warriors lost 7-20.
On Mayville State's second drive of the game, the Comets scored a touchdown off a four play, 52-yard drive.
The Warriors offense was forced to punt for the third time in the first quarter.
The Comets scored again with a 27-yard touchdown pass.
After a scoreless second quarter, the Warrior defense came out in the third quarter with an interception by Jakim Brock (JR/Stockton, CA) and returned for 42-yards.
Taye Buchanan (JR/Vernon, AL) rushed for 13 yards before Jordan Cooper (SR/New Caney, TX) connected with Bryce Jones (JR/Long Beach, CA) for a 44-yard touchdown pass.
Mayville State ended the third quarter with possession and converted into a touchdown to start the fourth quarter. The Comets took a total of 10 minutes off the clock, for 15 plays and 60-yards. The Waldorf special teams blocked the PAT try. The Comets won 20-7.
"We didn't do enough on either side of the ball to execute our game plan," Head Coach Tyler Chapa stated. "Our guys didn't quit, but we will get back to work tomorrow and learn from this and move on."
Next up for the Warriors is a game at (20)Dickinson State on Saturday, October 28th. Kickoff is at 1 pm.
