Football Drops to Blue Hawks in Conference Tilt

FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf football team returned to their home turf at Bolstorff Field for a conference matchup against the Dickinson State Blue Hawks. With a four-hour weather delay, the Warriors fell to the Blue Hawks 14-41.
"We had a tough day against a good opponent in Dickinson State," stated Interim Head Coach Tyler Chapa. "They out executed us today."
The Blue Hawks started the game off strong with an eight-play, 70-yard drive which resulted in their first touchdown.
On Waldorf's first drive, Dickinson State forced a fumble and recovered it on their own 38-yard line. The Blue Hawks moved the ball down the field and settled for a field goal to extend their lead to 10-0.
Jordan Cooper (SR/New Caney, TX) rushed for seven yards and a Blue Hawk penalty put the Warriors at Dickinson State's 44-yard line. Jatoviay Hill (JR/Davenport, IA) rushed for five yards and Cooper added seven more, but an incomplete pass resulted in a turnover on downs for the Warriors.
The Blue Hawks started the second quarter with a field goal to make the score 13-0.
The Warriors struggled to gain momentum on offense and were forced to punt. Dickinson State converted on offense for a five play, 58-yard drive to score their second touchdown of the game.
Dickinson State ended the half with another touchdown to make the score 27-0.
After a four-hour weather delay, Dom Watt (SR/Hollywood, FL) opened the second half with a 66-yard return. Cooper rushed for 15 yards and Hill tallied five to get the Warriors into the red zone.
Hill rushed in for an eight-yard touchdown giving the Warriors their first touchdown.
The Blue Hawks started the fourth quarter with a quick touchdown. After a Waldorf interception, Dickinson State capitalized on the turnover to score again.
Cooper connected with Malik Adams (SR/Cedar Rapids, IA) for a 65-yard pass to get into the red zone. Hill rushed in for a 10-yard touchdown. The Warriors lost 14-41.
Chapa added, "Our guys have no quit in them and we are proud of how they are handling adversity. We look forward to getting healthy and fixing our mistakes during our bye week."
The Warriors are now 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference. Next up, the football team will be back at Bolstorff Field for Homecoming on Saturday, October 7th against Valley City State at 1 pm.
