Football falls on the road to Mount Marty
YANKTON, S.D. - For the third time in four weeks, the Waldorf football team hit the road for a GPAC contest. Mount Marty was the host this week, and the Lancers came away with a 56-7 win.
Mount Marty got on the scoreboard early. They took the opening drive 66 yards on seven plays for the game's first score. Rugby Ryken completed a 25-yard pass to Trey Hansen for the touchdown. The Lancers would score twice more in the opening quarter and take a 21-0 lead. Mount Marty extended the lead to 35-0 by halftime.
The Warriors got their touchdown in the fourth quarter. Louis Williams found Kadin Abele for a 6-yard scoring strike that capped a 10-play, 50-yard drive.
Williams threw for 155 yards Saturday and rushed for 37 more. Rocky Ketchum rushed for 40 yards. Mark Pierre caught four passes for 26 yards. Bryce Jones had 39 receiving yards. Defensively, Isaiah Brown had an interception and a sack.
Waldorf (0-4, 0-3 in GPAC) returns home for the start of a three-game home stand next Saturday against Hastings.
