Dakota Wesleyan tops Waldorf

Dakota Wesleyan tops Waldorf

FOREST CITY, Iowa - The Waldorf football hosted Dakota Wesleyan for a GPAC matchup Saturday afternoon at Bolstorff Field. Dakota Wesleyan built a 21-0 halftime lead en route to a 42-14 win over the Warriors.

After holding Waldorf to a 3-and-out on the opening series, the Tigers would drive 63 yards on seven plays to score on their opening drive. Three straight completions from Carter Robinson to Cole Holden led to a Koby Kayser 2-yard touchdown rush. Landon Iverson added another touchdown rush for Dakota Wesleyan later in the quarter. In the second quarter, another Robinson to Holden connection resulted in a 39-yard touchdown. This gave Dakota Wesleyan a 21-0 lead going into the halftime locker room.

Dakota Wesleyan extended their lead to 28-0 on the opening drive of the second half. Robinson connected with Mason Barnhard on a 36-yard score. Waldorf got on the scoreboard on the ensuing drive. Chris Walter lofted a pass down the right sideline that Kadin Abele pulled in for a 67-yard touchdown. Later in the quarter, Waldorf executed an 11-play, 78-yard drive that ended with a Walter to Justice Johnson 10-yard touchdown. The Tigers would add a touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the game its final score of 42-14.

Walter threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns. One hundred twenty-two of those yards went to Kadin Abele who caught 10 passes. Bryce Jones caught five passes for 73 yards. Defensively, Kasan Handal led with eight tackles and one interception.

Waldorf (0-9, 0-8 in GPAC) hosts Morningside in their home finale next Saturday.
