Waldorf Women’s Wrestlers Post Dozen Wins at Conner/Oppenheim Open
CRETE, Neb. – The Warriors held their own against Saturday's field. Waldorf University recorded a dozen victories with four wrestlers, winning twice at the women's wrestling Conner/Oppenheim Open.
The Warrior effort was led by Amanda Durrant and Ari Hen, who had two bonus-point wins, while both Olivia Maxey-Ladson and Amiee Gordon added a pair of wins of their own.
At 124, Durrant came up short in her first bout of the day, but she came back strong with a 10-0 tech fall. Durrant registered Waldorf's fastest fall of the day in 31 seconds of her third match, before she fell in her fourth match.
Hen, like Durrant, dropped into the Consolation Bracket after her first match. She came back with a pin in 40 seconds and then a 10-0 tech fall shutout, before her day finished in the 131-pound field.
Also in the 124-weight class, Gordon was an even 2-2. Gordon picked up a forfeit win in her second matchup before she pinned her foe in 5:04 of the second period. Her day finished in her ensuing match.
At 117, Maxey-Ladson lost a close 10-6 decision to start her day. She came back with a win by fall in 1:37 and was given a forfeit in her third scheduled opponent. Her Consolation Bracket effort came to a conclusion in her fourth match.
Waldorf had four other women who won one Saturday match. The highlight of the four came from Jade Hackett (117) as she pinned her second match in a quick 42 seconds.
Both Alanis Serrano-Rios (103) and Neve Barragan (138) registered tech fall shutouts for their wins by 11-0 and 10-0 finals.
In the 145-field, Emily Hibner claimed a 6-2 decision victory in her opener as the final Warrior win.
Waldorf will have its second dual of the 2024-25 season next Tuesday, Dec. 10, in a 5 p.m. start time at Midland University in Fremont, Neb.
