Waldorf Wrestling Hosts 4th Annual Battle at Boman

FOREST CITY, Iowa – Waldorf Men's Wrestling hosted the 4^th annual Battle at Boman on Wednesday night on stage in the Boman Fine Arts Center. Shiwoko Skiwoko, Tyler Okada, and Skyler Schmidt all had winning matches against the Briar Cliff University Chargers.

Shiwoko in the 141-weight class took down his opponent four times and finished with a major decision that won Waldorf 4 points.

At 149, Okada, the 21^st ranked wrestler in the NAIA and 4^th ranked in the GPAC, finished his match in a tech fall at 5:30, earning 5 points for his team.

Schmidt at 184 headed into the third period 7 points behind his opponent until he pinned him at 5:11, winning the match and scoring 6 points for Waldorf.

Ultimately, these stellar matches weren't enough to overcome Briar Cliff, who ended the night 37-15.

Coach Ryan Dickinson said, "For the most part, we came out ready to wrestle...a little too ready. I think the excitement and atmosphere of the event impacted some of the guys and their wrestling. We had 3 guys get wins and all by bonus points, that is a positive. The other matches came down to pace and grit. Overall, the atmosphere and support for the event was incredible. The fans were great. They were loud. That is what we want in a home dual atmosphere. I am happy about how the event went but getting a win in the Boman is still the goal."

The Warriors are back on the road this weekend, Saturday, February 1 at the Raider Duals in Orange City, Iowa.
