Men's Soccer Duo Tabbed for GPAC Postseason Honors
SIOUX CITY, IA – The 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Soccer All-Conference team was selected on Monday. The Warriors saw Lucas Berte and Garrett McBee named as All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Senior midfielder, Lucas Berte (Joinville, Brazil) started in 16 games with 5 assists, 26 shots, and 12 shots on goal.
"Lucas Berte is a leader on the field and was the engine for our team this year, while it was not the most winning season Lucas was required to play every minute in positions he may not have been as comfortable in due to injuries, but he would never complain," Head Coach Thomas Goodman stated. "Lucas would be seen supporting our freshman and other players on the team. He has a very strong soccer IQ and his leadership and ability to lock down our midfield will be impossible to replace next season."
Sophomore defender Garrett McBee (Lake Wales, FL) started in all 17 games for the Warriors. He had two goals, 12 shots, and 5 shots on goal.
Goodman added, "Garrett McBee was the only player to start and play every game this season, he was the heart of our defense and saved us from embarrassing score lines with last second tackles and aggressive defending. As a sophomore, he had to act like an upperclassman as he never played with the same back line more than once this season and stepped up into that role fantastically."
