Volleyball Wins the Peru State Triangular

PERU, NE – The Waldorf women's volleyball team was back in action for a triangular hosted by Peru State with Bethany (KS). The Warriors went 2-0 on the day, with a thrilling five set win against the host school.
The Warriors had a strong start on the day by sweeping the Swedes 25-16, 25-19, and 27-25. Senior outside hitter, Kenzie Kidd (Roscoe, IL) recorded a double-double, with 14 kills on only three errors and 12 digs. Kaylee Kidd (SR/Roscoe, IL) had a team high of 26 digs. Charlotte Wright (SR/Porter, MN) added seven kills, and Wright, Laina Yurs (JR/South Beloit, IL), and Alicia Brandt (JR/Lakefield, MN) all contributed five block assists and Brandt had one solo block. Emma Hovenga (SR/Forest City, IA) and Reinya Balderson (FR/Marshfield, WI) led the offense with 19 and 12 assists.
For the second match, the Warriors were in a back and forth battle for five sets. The Bobcats took the first and third set, while keeping the fifth set close, 18-25, 25-22, 17-25, 25-19, 15-12. Kenzie Kidd led the way with another double-double, with a team-high of 21 kills and 18 digs. Annie Stotlar (JR/Davenport, IA) finished with 12 kills. Anna Longhery (SO/Fenton, IA) and Brandt dominated the net with six and five block assists respectfully. Kaylee Kidd had 23 digs and Alisha Schaefer (SR/Mount Calvary, WI) added 14 with three service aces. Hovenga and Balderson contributed 26 and 13 assists.
"Super proud of our grit and effort and equally happy to be reminded that we have a lot to improve on," Head Coach Bri Ebenhoe stated. "It was a good day!"
The Warriors move to 4-0 for the start of season. Next up for the volleyball team is the William Penn Jimmy John's Tournament for four matches starting on Sept. 1st against Graceland at 1pm.
