Waldorf's season ends with home loss to Morningside
FOREST CITY, Iowa - The Waldorf volleyball team was still in contention for a GPAC Tournament berth when they hosted Morningside for the regular season finale Tuesday night at Hanson Fieldhouse. Morningside proved to be too much and downed Waldorf in straight sets, ending Waldorf's season.
Waldorf jumped out to an early 3-0 lead to start the match. Kills from Alicia Brandt and Anna Longhenry helped build the edge. Morningside went on a run though and took a 9-5 lead. They continued to build on their lead and took the first set 25-18.
Morningside built a 7-1 lead in the second set. Waldorf would battle back to tie it at 11. The Mustangs would regain control and go on for a 25-17 set win.
The Mustangs built a 21-9 lead in the third set. Waldorf battled back to make it interesting at the end, but Morningside would win the set 25-18 and sweep the match.
Kenzie Kidd led Waldorf with 13 kills. Reinya Balderson had 17 assists. Kaylee Kidd added 18 digs.
Waldorf finishes with an 11-14 overall record and 5-11 mark in their first GPAC season.
