Warrior volleyball collects road win
SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The Waldorf volleyball team stayed in the hunt for a GPAC Tournament berth with a four-set (25-19, 24-26, 28-26, 26-24) win over Briar Cliff Saturday in GPAC action.
It was a very tightly contested match with three of the four sets going past 25 points. Waldorf was victorious in two of those sets. The first set was the only standard set with Waldorf winning 25-19. Briar Cliff tied the match with a 26-24 win in the second set. Waldorf faced a set point in the third set down 26-25. Back-to-back kills from Kaylin Koch gave Waldorf a 27-26 lead. Anna Longhenry ended the set with a smash to give Waldorf a 28-26 set win and two sets to one match lead. The fourth set was tied at 24. Jalyn Hovenga ended the set and the match with back-to-back kills to give Waldorf a 26-24 set win and three sets to one match win.
Kenzie Kidd led with 17 kills. She also collected 21 digs. Reinya Balderson led with 32 assists. Kaylee Kidd had 22 digs.
Waldorf (11-13, 5-10 in GPAC) sits in ninth place in the conference, a game behind Dakota Wesleyan and College of Saint Mary with one conference game remaining. The top eight teams qualify for the GPAC Tournament. Waldorf will host Morningside Tuesday night.
