Waldorf D1 Hockey Falls In Overtime Against Rams
ALBERT LEA, MN – The Waldorf D1 hockey returned to their home ice for a weekend series against the Colorado State Rams. In an overtime battle, the Warriors fell 4-3.
The Rams started the game with a goal in the first period and another early in the second to take a 2-0 lead.
Luke Nemeth (FR/Ames, IA) started the momentum for the Warriors by finding the back of the net, assisted by JJ Adams (JR/Rocky Mountain House, AB).
Cale Anderson (SO/Maple Bridge, BC) scored to tie the game at 2-2 at the 14th minute mark, assists were credited to Geoffrey Dick (JR/Prespatou, BC) and Campbell Jackson (SR/Hermosa Beach, CA).
The Warriors took the lead by Austin Mood-Flagg (SR/Slave Lake, Alberta) scoring, assisted by Jeremiah Lebsack (JR/Duluth, MN).
The Rams answered by tying the game within the last three minutes of the second period.
In the third periods, both sides suffered penalties and the period ended scoreless. The Rams scored on a power-play against the Warriors in overtime to win 4-3.
Goaltender Jordan Berschiminsky (JR/Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) finished the game with 44 saves.
"I thought we played a strong team game. JB made some big saves late in the game to give us a shot," stated Head Coach Mike Heitkamp. "The coaching staff is happy with our execution and compete level. We need to make sure we repeat this effort tomorrow."
The Warriors will be back in action tomorrow, September 23rd against the Rams starting at 2 pm.
