Waldorf D1 Hockey Sweeps Huskies

ALBERT LEA, MN – The Waldorf D1 hockey team completed their weekend series against the Northern Illinois Huskies on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors got the 5-2 sweep, with two athletes each scoring two goals.
"The coaching staff is very happy for the guys," stated Head Coach Mike Heitkamp. "It was nice to get a sweep during parents' weekend."
Chayse Haberman (SR/Minot, ND) scored a quick goal for the Warriors within the first two minutes of the game. Geoffrey Dick (JR/Prespatou, BC) and Robby Arver (FR/Spokane, WA) were credited on the assists.
JJ Adams (JR/Rocky Mountain House, AB) extended the lead with another goal in the first period, assisted by Anthony Pileggi (FR/London, ON).
Halfway through the second period, Adams found the back of the net again, earning his second goal of the day. The goal came off of a power-play against the Huskies and Tyler Roepke (SR/Tulsa, OK) was credited on the assist.
The Huskies scored their first goal of the game at the 9th minute-mark of the second period.
In the third period, Jake Lindblom (SR/Pine City, MN) scored two goals. The first came during the 8th minute, assists were by Jacob Sundgren (JR/Pinedale, WY) and Zackary Bender (JR/Langley, British Columbia). Lindblom's second goal happened off of a power-play against the Huskies, assisted by Campbell Jackson (SR/Hermosa Beach, CA) and Roepke.
The Huskies found the back of the net one more time, during the last minute of the game. The Warriors won 5-2.
Waldorf goaltender, Jordan Berschiminsky (JR/Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) finished the game with 28 saves.
"We had another great performance from our goaltender. Jordan Berschiminsky made some huge saves at the right time. It was also nice to see us score a few power-play goals today," Heitkamp added. "We anticipate our momentum to carry over next weekend at McKendree."
Next up, the hockey team is on the road for a weekend series at McKendree. First game is on Friday, October 27th. Puck drop is at 7:45 pm.
