D1 Hockey Battles Against Bearcats
ALBERT LEA, MN – The Waldorf D1 hockey team returned to their home ice for a conference contest against the McKendree Bearcats on Friday evening. The Warriors lost 2-0.
The first period remained scoreless with the Bearcats getting 15 shots on goal compared to the Warriors having nine.
In the second period, the Bearcats opened with a quick goal to get on the scoreboard. At the 15-minute mark, the Bearcats extended their lead, 2-0, to secure the win, off of a power-play.
"We played a soft game and didn't follow our systems," stated Head Coach Mike Heitkamp. "JB played great in net and gave us a fighting chance, but we couldn't execute on the offensive side of the puck."
Waldorf goalkeeper, Jordan Berschiminsky (JR/Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) finished the game with 29 saves.
The Warriors will be back tomorrow, Saturday, October 7th, for a second game against the Bearcats starting at 2 pm.
