DE KALB, Ill. - The Waldorf D1 hockey team tallied 14 goals in two games in completing a two-game sweep at Northern Illinois Friday and Saturday.
Friday night, the Warriors secured a 4-2 win. Liam Wallace got the scoring started early with a goal 5:21 into the contest. Dominic Toews and Geoffrey Dick assisted on the tally. Eight minutes later, Dick assisted on another goal, this time a shorthanded goal by Zak Molstad that gave Waldorf a 2-0 lead. The Warriors scored two more in the second period. Toews scored on a power play goal at the 7:34 mark from Wallace and Kirill Konach. Molstad added his second goal of the game nearly four minutes later. Vaughn Holbeche made 36 saves in net for Waldorf.
Molstad kept on his scoring onslaught Saturday be securing a hat trick in Waldorf's 10-2 win over the Huskies. Molstad scored two of his goals in Waldorf's seven-goal third period that turned a close game into a rout. Audun Caple scored twice for Waldorf including a shot only 35 seconds into the game. That was assisted by Mackenzie Bolger. Bolger assisted on four Waldorf goals on Saturday. As did JJ Adams who also scored one himself. Andrew Tworkowski made 29 saves in net for the Warriors.
Waldorf (2-2) remains on the road for games at Jamestown October 4-5.
