FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf women's soccer team hosted the Northwestern (IA) Raiders for a conference game on Wednesday evening. In an exciting showdown, the Warriors fell short, losing 1-0.
The first half was a scoreless 45 minutes. Northwestern saw more scoring opportunities that were ultimately saved by Waldorf goalkeeper, Samantha Linteo (SR/Napa, CA).
In the second half, the Raiders scored off a free kick at the 60th minute mark.
Iveth Guzman (SR/Mission, TX) had a shot on goal, but the Raiders goalie was able to make a last second play to save the goal. The Warriors saw a few more shots but were unable to force the tie.
Linteo finished the game with six saves. Guzman, Olivia Cross (JR/Coventry England), and Sydney Boyd (SR/Aiea, HI) all had one shot on goal.
The women's soccer team will travel to Concordia (NE) for a conference matchup on Saturday, October 21ststarting at 4:30 pm.
