Waldorf Volleyball Starts Strong in a 3-1 Loss to Dordt
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — In a conference volleyball matchup at DeWitt Gymnasium on October 25, 2025, the Waldorf University Warriors fell to the Dordt Defenders in a hard-fought 1–3 loss.
The Warriors opened the match on a high note, taking the first set 25–21 behind a balanced offensive effort. They started the second set strong as well, but despite their early control, the Warriors ultimately dropped the set 24–26, shifting the momentum in favor of the Defenders. From there, Dordt gained control, capturing the final two sets 25–19 and 25–20 to secure the match victory.
Despite the loss, the Warriors showcased several standout performances. Emily Goodner led the charge with 10 kills, while Emily Soukup impressed with a .429 hitting percentage, recording 9 kills on 21 attempts. Reinya Balderson notched a double-double with 20 assists and 11 digs, adding 3 aces to her stat line and proving to be a key force both defensively and at the service line. McKenna Marlow contributed 16 digs to anchor the backcourt, while Soukup and Anna Longhenry each tallied 6 blocks to strengthen Waldorf's presence at the net.
Looking ahead, Waldorf returns home to face Morningside University on October 29 in Forest City, Iowa. The Warriors enter the matchup with an overall record of 10–11 and a 2–11 mark in conference play. As they prepare for their upcoming contest, the Warriors will look to regroup and build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
