Men's Basketball Falls to Grand View

FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf men's basketball team hosted the Grand View Vikings for an evening game on Wednesday. The Warriors suffered a 75-68 defeat.
"Tale of two halves for us defensively. We did a really good job in the first half overall, but the second half was a different story," stated Head Coach Nigel Jenkins. "Add to the face we didn't shoot the ball and it will be hard to beat anyone."
The Vikings took an 11-6 lead before Justin Wiggins (JR/West Palm Beach, FL) made a three and Kaelon Harkema (JR/Louisville, KY) added two to tie the game. With 8 minutes left in the 1st half, the Vikings extended their lead 21-13.
Points from Wiggins, Ugo Ejiofor (JR/Dallas, TX), and Khalil Grayson (JR/Milwaukee, WI) brought the game within three. In the last 3 minutes of the 1st half, the Warrior defense held the Vikings from scoring. A three from Gene Noble (JR/Roy, UT) gave Waldorf the lead and were up 35-30 at the end of the half.
In the second half, the Vikings outscored the Warriors 45-33. Grand View tied the game at 39-39. Wiggins hit a three-pointer to retake the lead. With 11 minutes left, the Vikings made a three to extend their lead 54-46.
The Warriors brought the game within nine, but the Vikings secured the 75-68 win.
Jenkins added, "I order for us to be successful this year, we have to be good defensively for 40 minutes. It's a work in progress and we will keep working at it for sure."
Ejiofor finished with a double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds and two blocked shots. Wiggins had a team-high of 21 points. Grayson added 13 points and five assists and Noah Miller (JR/Forest City, IA) finished with six assists.
