Warriors Host Bulldogs for Non-Conference Game

FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf men's basketball team hosted the McPherson College Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors suffered a 90-77 defeat.
"Today was a rollercoaster. They got up, we came back, they got up again, we came back but it wasn't good enough. We are battling consistency right now," Head Coach Nigel Jenkins stated. "Especially on the defensive end. The first half we put up a good amount of points but gave up 51."
1st Half: Kaelon Harkema (JR/Louisville, KY) started off the game with a quick jump shot and Gabriel Sorensen (JR/West Haven, UT) added a three-pointer. The Bulldogs went on to make three straight three-pointers and added a jump shot for an 11-0 run. Sorensen and Noah Miller (JR/Forest City, IA) both scored three-pointers.
McPherson extended their lead 32-13 halfway through the first half. Khalil Grayson (JR/Milwaukee, WI) drained two three-pointers and Khyle Washington (SR/Atlanta, GA) made a quick layup. Justin Wiggins (JR/West Palm Beach, FL) added a layup off of a Bulldog turnover. Wiggins then added a made three-pointer to move the score 30-41. The Bulldogs were up 51-38 at the end of the half.
2nd Half: Harkema scored the first four points for the Warriors to start the half. McPherson went up by 17 points. Sorensen made a jump shot to be down by 10 at 53-63. Washington forced a turnover with a steal and got layup to bring the game within 8 points with just over 5 minutes remaining. McPherson made six straight buckets to pull ahead and secure a 90-77 win.
Jenkins added, "2nd half our defense was way better but we didn't shoot the ball well enough. I have to figure something out quickly. 3 games next week against good opponents. We have to get better."
Harkema finished with a team-high of 17 points with 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Wiggins added 15 points, going 6-10 from the field and 2-4 from the three-point line. Washington tallied 14 points and 4 assists, and Sorensen added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Ugo Ejiofor (JR/Dallas, TX) had 9 rebounds and 4 blocks.
The men's basketball team will be back on the road for an exhibition game at the University of South Dakota on Tuesday, November 28th. Tip-off is at 7 pm.
