Warriors Win Over Saints 74-65

NOTRE DAME, IN – The Waldorf men's basketball team had their third straight road game against the Holy Cross Saints on Saturday afternoon. Clutch free throws and solid defense helped the Warriors take a 74-65 victory.
"Really good win for us tonight. Winning is hard and winning on the road is really hard but we found a way," said Head Coach Nigel Jenkins.
1st Half: The Saints started the game with being up by 5 points over the Warriors. Justin Wiggins (JR/West Palm Beach, FL) answered with a made three-pointer. Joshua Woods (SR/Fresno, CA) added a layup and Kaelon Harkema (JR/Louisville, KY) forced a turnover with a steal which resulted in a go-ahead three-pointer. Noah Miller (JR/Forest City, IA) drained a three to give the Warriors a 25-16 lead with 7-minutes left.
Khalil Grayson (JR/Milwaukee, WI) and Miller made back-to-back three-pointers. The Saints brought the game back within 5 points before Khyle Washington (SR/Atlanta, GA) added a layup and Miller went 2-2 from the free throw line to end the half. The Warriors were up 35-30.
2nd Half: The Saints opened the new half with a three-pointer. Wiggins and Washington responded with four points. Holy Cross took the lead with another three at 43-41. Gabriel Sorensen (JR/West Haven, UT) grabbed a defensive rebound and made a three-pointer to retake the lead.
Holy Cross added two more three-pointers and a layup to take a 53-48 lead with just under 10 minutes left. Miller made three threes, Harkema added four points, and Washington made a layup in a span of 5 minutes. The Warriors were up 63-57. Waldorf maintained their lead by going 7-8 from the free-throw line to end the game. The Warriors won 74-65.
Jenkins added, "We definitely got better in some areas and that was the goal. Back to practice on Monday to get ready for Tuesday's game."
Miller finished with a team high of 23 points, going 5-7 from three-point, and 6-6 from the free throw line. Washington added 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists and Harkema tallied 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
The Warriors will continue on the road for a game against Oak Hills Christian on Tuesday, December 5thstarting at 6 pm.
