Graceland pulls away late to down Waldorf
LAMONI, Iowa - The Waldorf men's basketball team traveled for the third straight game to start the season Tuesday night for a game at Graceland. The two teams battled to a tight game through 30 minutes before Graceland pulled away for a 76-60 win.
Waldorf jumped out to an 8-4 lead thanks to 3s from Ugo Ejiofor and Anthony Robinson. Graceland went on a 9-2 run before a John Gray 3 tied the game at 13. Graceland built a 29-21 lead before Waldorf scored the final six points of the half to make it 29-27 Graceland after 20 minutes of play.
Ejiofor tied the game quickly to start the second half. Graceland would go on a run to build a 44-35 edge. A Robinson layin trimmed the deficit to 3 at 44-41. Graceland would soon built their lead to double digits and would go on for the 16-point win.
Ejiofor had a near double-double with 18 points and nine assists. Gray scored 15 points off the bench.
Waldorf (0-3) travels to Sioux City for the Morningside Classic Friday and Saturday. Friday's opponent will be Kansas Wesleyan.
